Kameron Hurley got another great review for God’s War from Strange Horizons, which includes a thoughtful analysis of the novel’s themes, and calls it “punchy, refreshing…Just what the genre ordered.”
Martha Wells‘s novel The Serpent Sea (sequel to The Cloud Roads) will be released in January of 2012. Martha also received two more terrific reviews for The Cloud Roads, one from Burn Bright, the other from the Portland Book Review, which says “This novel is a must-read for any sci-fi fan.”
Stina Leicht‘s novel Of Blood and Honey got a wonderful review in the August edition of Locus (sadly, only available to magazine subscribers), which called Of Blood and Honey “a dark, sardonic Irish take on several kinds of conflict, mingled with a bit of hope.” Stina will be appearing at GeekFest in Killeen on Saturday, August 20. She’ll also be running the writer’s workshop at Armadillocon in Austin, TX on August 26.
Courtney Schafer‘s novel The Whitefire Crossing was also reviewed in the August edition of Locus, which said The Whitefire Crossing “grabs you from the start, with a couple characters struggling to overcome horrible pasts, and proving surprisingly likeable despite their flaws.” She also participated in the latest SF Signal Mind Meld, discussing which SF novel series she’d most like to see resurrected.
And congratulations to both Courtney and John Hornor Jacobs on the official release of their novels! We’ll be celebrating Courtney’s release this next week with a giveaway of The Whitefire Crossing – stay tuned for giveaway details later today. The following week, we’ll celebrate the release of John’s novel, Southern Gods.
